At least three foreign governments consider the United States too dangerous for their citizens to visit.
Residents of the Bahamas, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) were warned to be careful in the US this summer because of protests and violence, Fortune reported.
“Please be cautious of protests or crowded areas occurring around the US,” a Tweet from the Middle Eastern nation of Bahrain states.
“For your own safety, the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates urges you to please stay away from any ongoing or planned demonstrations and protests in cities around the United States,” a special alert for UAE Citizens in the United States, warns. “Please be aware of immediate surroundings and avoid crowded places when possible. Exercise particular caution during large festivals or events, be alert and stay safe.”
The warnings do not mention any specific threat, but an alert from the government of the Bahamas warns that nation’s citizens about police in the United States: “In particular young males are asked to exercise extreme caution in affected cities in their interactions with the police. Do not be confrontational and cooperate.
The Bahamas’ Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration Issues is worried because most of that nation’s people are of African descent. The ministry is also concerned about political violence in the United States.
“Do not get involved in political or other demonstrations under any circumstances and avoid crowds,” the advisory states.
