Most preppers don’t even consider using a bicycle as a bug out vehicle. They think a bike is nothing more than a toy, and that you should get a real bug out vehicle. But what happens if there’s a traffic jam that goes on for miles? And what happens if your vehicle runs out of gas and all the stations are dry?

This is why a bicycle is such a great option. As long as you’re in good shape, you could cover 30 or more miles per day while pulling several hundred pounds on a bicycle trailer. You can weave around cars if there’s a traffic jam, and you don’t have to worry about running out of gas.

Of course, you don’t want to get just any bicycle. In this series of articles, Left Coast Chuck explains how to use a bicycle as a bug out vehicle. Part one covers the basics, part two is about the kind of hardware you’ll want to acquire, and part three is about how to load the bike and the tools you’ll need to maintain it. All three parts are linked below.
